That’s what we’re here for! Our program is designed to support shy or new performers with care and to make sure their first experience on stage is a fun one. Many of our most experienced students started in this week workshop, exactly where you are now.

Auditions are completely optional and done via video submission. We have tutorials and guides on how to create your audition if your new to theatre. Auditions are required if your child wants to be considered for a lead or supporting role. If they do not audition, they will be part of our ensemble. Every student, regardless of their role, plays a meaningful, busy part in the show - whether they audition or not.

Yes! We include vocal coaching, acting technique, leadership opportunities and high-level ensemble and lead work. Our industry teachers support each child at their level.

Students rehearse and perform a full musical, work on their individual singing and acting skills directly with a teacher, learn how to work with microphones, how to navigate the 'backstage' of a theatre show, and how to build costumes and props. This workshop is a very practical 'full-package real-world industry skills kind of workshop - delivered in a joy-centred, confidence-first, community-focused way.

We've worked with hundreds of students (most of whom are nervous) and most often a drop-off, distract and go approach works best to set them up with confidence and independence. We know this doesn't work for everyone, so if you need to stay for a while to help support your child, we encourage you to join in as much as possible (yes, the teachers will most likely ask you to participate), so your child can learn from your example. Either way, we’ll send you behind-the-scenes photos and videos throughout the week via our parent portal - and of course welcome you for our big show day on Saturday.

On Day 1, we pair students up with friendly cast buddies and into a form groups so they have a core friendship and support team, we focus on ensemble warmups, and keep energy light and welcoming. Every child is gently supported - not pushed - to find their voice and confidence at their own pace. The goal isn’t perfection - it’s progress, pride and connection.

Totally okay - and more common than you might think! Our program is designed to be accessible to all experience levels. Every student gets individual coaching and the chance to contribute meaningfully, whether it’s their first show or their fiftieth.

You receive access to our First-Time Performer Welcome Video Series which lets you know what to expect, goes through a few theatre jargon things and sets you and your child up for success from Day 1!

We spend ALOT of time on this. Every student has a featured moment - whether it's a solo line, a feature in a group number, or helping run mics and quick change behind the scenes. Ensemble roles are just as celebrated as leads. We cast thoughtfully based on both skill, goals and interest, and there’s more than one way to shine.

Navigating casting disappointment is hard and we have a lot of resources and content about how to handle this (for parents and for students). Auditions are 100% optional and should be framed as a chance to have fun, perform and grow - not win or lose. We guide students through what to expect, and even those not auditioning still receive coaching and spotlight moments. We also check in with students throughout the week to make sure they're feeling good in their role end see if they are craving extra challenges OR feeling overwhelmed.

Our week balances structure with flexibility. We include regular breaks, quiet zones for downtime, and fun (but secretly very productive) games that break up the learning. Students are encouraged to check in with us anytime - and many do! We’re always listening.

These are big days, so if you're worried, please let us know in your welcome call and we'll be sure to keep an extra close eye on your little person.

We get that. This isn’t that. Our team comes from professional industry backgrounds and child-centred training. A lot of us had similar experiences, and it's the opposite of what BeXD workshops aim to be. This week is all about safe, inclusive growth and forging new friendships. Kids leave feeling stronger, not smaller.

That’s amazing - and we absolutely get that. This program gives kids a place to thrive during the day and brings that joy home. We send at-home practice resources so you can share in their learning, ask them about their roles, even run lines or learn choreography together (with videos and warm-ups to guide you!). Be prepared: they’ll come home buzzing with stories, songs, and choreography to show you. It’s not shipping them off for the week - it’s a new shared experience you get to talk about together all week and after the show finishes.

Roles are never guaranteed - and that’s a good thing. We cast based on a thoughtful combination of each child’s current skills, growth potential, group dynamics and what will gently challenge them. Sometimes a brand-new student will land a lead, and sometimes a returning student might be best suited to a pivotal ensemble role. Every part is meaningful - and every student is coached, supported, and celebrated.

That’s why we offer early drop-off from 8am and extended pickup until 5:30pm. All supervised by our friendly team, and they can do their own thing or potentially help the team with costumes, props or tech. We’re here to make it easy.

Yes. We work with a wide range of learning, sensory, and communication styles - and we’re always open to learning more. You’ll have a welcome call before the workshop to share anything that helps us support your child well. We also have quiet zones, visual prompts, routine anchors, and a no-yelling, no-humiliation policy.

We’d love to have your child for the full six-day experience — that’s when the magic really happens. But life happens too! If you're only available for part of the week, reach out. Depending on which days and how many, we may be able to accommodate or suggest a future workshop that fits better.

Most of our students come in not knowing anyone — and leave with new friendships, group chats, and inside jokes they won’t stop talking about. We design every part of the week to build connection fast, with ensemble games, buddy systems, and collaborative rehearsals. For many kids, this is where they meet their people.

We don’t typically take volunteers, but there are a few exceptions.

Our programs are led by working professionals and our teaching teams are tightly structured to maintain a safe, high-quality experience. That said - if you're over 16 and passionate about behind-the-scenes production (costumes, props, lighting, sound), we may be able to offer a limited backstage internship during the holiday workshop or during the terms.

We cast thoughtfully — with learning and confidence at the centre.

We don’t cast the same kids as leads every time, and new students are absolutely considered for lead roles. Even our most experienced performers rotate through ensemble and support roles, because every position builds different skills.

Auditions are optional, but you must submit one on time to be considered for a lead or named character.

Casting a show is like solving a creative puzzle - and there are usually 4 or 5 strong casting options. If you didn’t get a lead this time, it doesn’t mean we don’t believe in your ability.

Here’s what we consider:

1. Did you follow the audition brief and submit on time?

2. Can you confidently perform the role (singing, acting, dancing)?

3. Is this the best growth opportunity for you right now?

4. Does the full cast feel cohesive (age/height balance, etc)?

We don’t cast based on gender or race unless the story very uniquely requires it - but we do consider age range and ensemble chemistry.

Short answer? Ensemble is where the magic happens AND you'll learn different things and face different challenges.

Leads have lines and songs to learn - but in ensemble, students often grow more. They dance, sing harmonies, do quick changes, play multiple roles, move sets, and help each other shine.

And no matter your role, you’ll get individualised coaching in acting, voice and movement. This isn’t a step back - it’s a chance to level up and do more.

Nope! In between our matinee (2-3pm) and our evening show (5-6pm), we'll have a pizza party, pop on a movie (bet you can't guess which one), have some activities running and quiet spaces for kids who just want to chill out. You're more than welcome to take your kids for the break, we just ask that they be back by 4:30pm to get ready for the next show!

Not at all - if your child prefers not to, that’s absolutely fine.

We recommend basic stage makeup to help faces show up clearly under bright lights - not for glam, just for visibility. A light powder, blush, and mascara for fair lashes can make a big difference in how expressions come across onstage and in photos.
