About BeXD!

BeXD was founded by husband-and-wife team Will and Katie Toft in 2017.

What began as a local performing arts school in Queensland, Australia, has grown into an international musical theatre licensing company, with productions taking place in schools, community theatres and performing arts organisations around the world.

Unlike many publishers, every BeXD musical is written by us. We develop every story, write every script, compose every score and test every production ourselves before it ever becomes available for licensing. That means every show has been refined in real rehearsal rooms with real students, creative teams and audiences long before it reaches your stage.

That hands-on process shapes everything we create.

As theatre-makers ourselves, we know the challenges that come with staging a musical. Finding enough meaningful roles. Balancing different ages and abilities. Keeping rehearsals organised. Supporting volunteer creative teams with limited time and resources. Choosing material that's engaging for performers and easy to market while remaining practical for schools and community theatres.

Our musicals are written to solve those challenges.

From balanced ensemble casting and flexible vocal keys to detailed production resources and practical rehearsal materials, every decision is made to help directors create productions they're proud of while giving every performer a chance to contribute meaningfully.

Today, BeXD Licensing publishes original musicals and fresh adaptations of public domain classics for schools, youth theatres and community theatre companies across the world. Many of our productions are available in multiple formats, including One-Act, Two-Act and Touring editions, making them suitable for everything from small performing arts studios to large-scale family productions.

Alongside BeXD Licensing, we continue to operate BeXD Create, where we run performing arts programs and produce our own musicals with young performers in Queensland. These productions continue to shape and improve every new show we write, allowing us to keep refining our catalogue through real-world experience rather than simply publishing from behind a desk.

At the heart of everything we do is a belief that musical theatre is about much more than putting on a great show.

It's about building confidence, encouraging creativity, strengthening communities and creating stories that people genuinely love performing and watching.
