Class Description

Join us for an unforgettable week of fun, music, friendship and creativity! These holidays, Will, Katie and the BeXD Create team will be producting Disney’s Finding Nemo JR in 1 week! This is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (the award-winning songwriting team who brought us Frozen and Coco). Meet Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, who lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure. DATES: 18th - 23rd September TIMES: 9AM - 4PM WHERE: Riverside Conference Centre, Chelmer COST: $380 WHO: Ages 6+ (all experience levels welcome) SHOW: 23rd September 1PM WHAT TO EXPECT: Students will spend their days working with their scripts, teachers and cast mates to learn lines and develop their characters. We’ll have music rehearsals where students won’t just learn the notes and lyrics, but will learn about voice technique, harmonies and projection. Students will receive one-on-one coaching on their voice and acting skills. We’ll work as a team to create some magical costumes and set pieces including a morning of Tie Dye magic! Students will work with their choreographer to do daily stretches and warmups and learn simple and fun movement for the show. A few featured dancers will learn some more advanced choreography. The teachers also will perform in a special showcase and hold a Q&A session for students about the theatre and music industry during one of the lunchtime - this is a great opportunity for our older students who are interested in a. Career in the arts to ask any questions! We’ll have morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea breaks each day (food is not provided).
